My condolences to the Foote Family. I met Bob through the construction equipment side of his buisiness. Just meeting him he oozed a good feeling of old school that, his word was his bond. We had several good conversations & he treated me like he knew me forever. In life you meet very few sincere people & I was blessed to meet this one. Rest peacefully Mr. Foote, I bet that hug from your daughter brought joy to you in the afterlife.
Wow what a man, what a company, and what a family. Peace to you all.
I met Bob during the Great Recession of 2009. I was managing a lot of acquired properties at that time and sold Bob some nice industrial land. As I read about his life in the obit I chucked to myself that he definitely negotiated well on that deal. During the deal, maybe after he closed, I wanted to meet him so I set up a time to meet and went out and visited him at his modest home.
I myself grew up in the cattle business as the son of a large animal veterinarian.
I don’t remember all the details of this 1.5 hour conversation with Bob, but I was struck by his warmth, humor, smarts, interest and I knew without a doubt that he was a man that i very much trusted and a 10 plus individual.

I met Bon back in the mid 80's at the Kansas City Stockyards, where I was officed at that time. I will never forget 'He had one of the strongest hand shakes "I had every received. He definitely had some big strong hard working hands, and over time I learned her how he kept them that way, a true hard working man. We visited a lot at the Golden Ox and found we had many friends in common , over the years I was able to introduce some of my customers to Bob and never heard a complaint from any of them, He will be missed, Your family is in our thoughts and prayers.
I JUST HEARD ABOUT BOB FOOTE AND HIS LEGACY IN AN EQUIPMENT FINANCING TRANSACTION CONVERSATION. I'M SORRY I DIDN'T HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO MEET THE GENTLEMAN. THERE ARE A FEW GREAT MEN.

Every where I go this week , people are asking me if knew of Bob’s passing .
And almost to a person. They describe him as a “ legend in cattle industry.”
We will Miss him But know the family will carry on his integrity and innovation!!

Bob could capture a sale barn with his laugh. He truly was one of my favorite buyers at the St. Joe Stockyards. I ran Jenns place and Bob always had a kind word a smile. My heart goes out to the Foote family. He truly was 1 of a kind and larger than life.
Bob purchased thousands of cattle from our family during his career. First in the country out of an old car as my late father-in-law Howard Blender shared. Later he bought them off the video sales at Joplin Regional Stockyards. My first and only interaction with Bob was when I was tasked with selling an extra load of calves in the fall. I decided to call the number on the website. To my surprise when I asked the voice on the other end of the phone who I was speaking to the voice answered back “This is Bob Foote who the heck are YOU?!! I just couldn’t believe a cattleman of his stature would be the one physically procuring stock. Needless to say it was a little intimidating but we conducted our business over the phone, Greg sent the truck, the cattle were heavy, we slid, and the check showed up. I know he did this millions of times in his life, but it was a pretty big deal to me. Everyone in our industry suffers a personal loss when we lose stockmen like Bob. We must always remember the examples of family, courage, independence and business savvy that men of this caliber and accomplishment provide. We offer our condolences to his family, friends and employees as they carry on his legacy.

I first met Bob around 1988. I was not happy with the price I received at the sale barn for my steers off pasture and a friend suggested I contact Bob. He always gave me a bid that was fair and I could accept or decline. Bob liked to buy cattle out in the country. One year Bob came out with to see my steers and had Wayne Tilly with him. I was prepared to negotiate with Bob on the price of the steers but decided to go ahead and accept the bid providing we use a 1.5% shrink instead of the traditional 2% shrink weighed on the truck. I looked directly at Wayne who nodded yes. Bob came unglued at Wayne handing Wayne the contract telling him "If you are going to accept a 1.5% shrink you are on your own". Bob walked off not happy. The next year Bob came out to view my steers Wayne was not with him 🙂
I either ran out of space or hit the wrong key.
I want to thank the Foote family for your kindness and pride in your family. You always treated us like neighbors. My last conversation with Bob in January concluded with Bob telling me "Now don't forget to call me when you are ready to sell those steers."
Anyone have that number handy??
